What is Leadership Coaching?

The International Coach Federation defines coaching as follow: “Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Coaches help people improve their lives. Coaches are trained to listen, observe and customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach’s job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has.”

What are the benefits of Leadership Coaching?

Whether you work with a coach on an individual basis or as a team or organization, there are several benefits including:

  • Improved communication skills
  • Increased self-esteem/self-confidence
  • Increased productivity
  • Optimized individual/team performance
  • Improved work-life balance
  • Increased well-being
  • Improved business management strategies
  • Expanded professional career opportunities
  • Accelerated onboarding into a new professional role

How does Coaching differ from Consulting?

A coach is not necessarily the subject matter expert in order to help develop the client. A consultant is an expert who is called on for professional or technical advice or opinions. Consulting is unlike coaching because with pure coaching, the answers come from the client. A coach is like a partner while a consultant is more like an advisor.

What should I work on with my coach?

You can work on anything you would like with Louise. Often the coaching sessions will revolve around your goals; however, the coaching agenda is up to you!

What do I have to do when I’m working with a coach?

Coaching requires a commitment from you to meet two or three times a month and complete certain work before your coaching appointments. You will work with Louise to determine how much time and energy you can commit each week in order to meet your stated goals. Ultimately, the amount of work that you do is entirely up to you…you are the driver of this relationship.

Are my conversations with my coach confidential?

Confidentiality is a very important aspect of the coaching relationship. Information you share with Louise is completely confidential.

What training is there for coaches?
